Floor under cabinets?

We're in the middle of putting Racedeck in the garage / workshop, and my assistant pointed out that it might make more sense not to put flooring under where the cabinets will be (I thought we would floor the whole workshop and then put the -very heavy- cabinets atop the flooring).

Any thoughts one way or another? I'm going to have to make a decision very soon -- like in the next hour.

Thanks,
Mark.

Use cabinets that hang on the wall. The space under the cabinets is very useful for long stuff. It is also easier to hose out the garage.

Thanks for the replies. The cabinets weigh several hundred pounds empty. I don't think I'm going to be hanging them off the wall.

May be too late, but I would put the floor down first, then the cabinets on top. For one thing, you can hide the cut pieces behind the cabinets. Also, if you ever want to reconfigure the cabinets, you're stuck.

Racedeck should be able to handle the weight. If it can handle the weight of a car, it can handle the weight of a couple hundred pound cabinet. Also, remember, the weight is distributed over the floor tiles.

Remember to let the floor settle and get to temp before placing heavy objects on it, or it will buckle. The hanging cabinets do work best if that is an option
Good luck

I'm at teh same stage, about to put down racedeck. My slide-lok dealer said put the cabinets on the flooring, even with the legs slidelok comes with.
