Floor Under Lift

My 1200 sq ft garage has an epoxy floor, and 4 post lift. Naturally, most of the mess on the floor is under the lift (oil, gas, dropping tools and other objects, etc ) Any suggestions for this area? Think it's a good idea just to cover this area with mats, tiles, etc for added protection . It would have to be non slippery, easy to clean, easy to find dropped hardware, etc, or should I just leave it alone and put up with the accelerated wear, and constant cleaning. Does anyone have a different floor material under their lift compared to the rest of the floor. (it's more of a working garage than a show garage)

The reason for an epoxy floor is easy clean-up... I, too, have a working shop without any fancy floor covering except for a few entrance mats.

I just pulled a major ***** and spilled over a gallon of ATF while draining the ****** under my 4 post. The only silver lining was I working in the area where I have my epoxy floor. Wiped right up, quick degeaser mopping and all is back to good.

That being said, I have rubber flooring at the 2 post (about an 8 x 20 mat, you can get 'em at Sam's and Costco). Great for spills and clean up, but they are usually patterend, with ribs, buttons or diamond plate. That only becomes slightly annoying when rolling the drain, jack, etc.

My shop is new, so both are basically test cases for me, and both are working out fine. But... I'm not done yet :)

I put down 6 pcs. of 4' x 6' x 3/4" (for an 8' wide x 18' long area) recycled horse stall mats under my 2 post lift. Spilled oil wipes right up off it and you can drop heavy objects on it (tools, trannys, etc.) without damaging anything. Very happy with it and relatively inexpensive. You can get them at agriculture supply stores like the TSC chain, about $35-40 ea.
