Flooring for Garage/Music Space

Hello everyone. First time posting here. I am planning on finishing off my garage this spring so that I have a place to play my drums, work out, hang out, ect.

I was going to just glue indoor/outdoor carpet down, but that would do almost nothing to reduce noise. I then thought about a cork flooring. A very thick carpet with a thick pad is probably the best for sound reduction, but doesn't seem appropriate for the garage when a car may be pulled into it at some point. I don't plan to have my car in the garage but for resale purpose I don't think I want to put something down that would prevent someone in the future from doing so. Any ideas? Thanks!

Don't think racedeck would be be much good for his use, wouldn't have thought it would reduce sound much, nor be a good surface for putting drums on. I would think perhaps rubber matting/PVC floor tiles would be best for a drum kit, if not going for carpet. I'm no expert on garage flooring, I'm researching it for myself at the moment, but I have been in a few bands, and I don't think hard plastic tiles (racedeck) would be much good for this use.

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering what the Racedeck material was made out of. I'll check out some rubber materials.

Rubber flooring in the music area (but not for cars) would do a great job of deadening the noise. it also comes with a carpet top. The people we got our last location from used a foam on the wall as well and that worked well --in addition to the flooring.

This might sound crazy but some of the best resources for that type of thing in terms of what works and what doesn't is the guys that run the sound boards at some of these churches. It is incredible some of the sound deadening things they have come up with...
