dboat,

Thanks for the info on the Sam's tiles. Here is my question. I am going to my entire garage (no flowthrough needed, therefore it does not need to be racedeck compatible). Would you recommend these at all? And did you get the edges and are they essential?

Thanks.

I guess, IMHO, for me, I would go with RaceDeck, I look at this project as flooring I will keep for a long long time (read rest of my life,. age 49).. so I would prefer the thicker, beefier, better made product.. If you are not so picky, then these will be ok.. I believe someone posted up that they got them and are happy with them.. I didnt get any edges, just one box of tiles.. in blue (in case you are buying them.. I will sell this pretty cheap).. however, I would get the edges, but then again, I would want this to look pretty darned perfect too..

I dont know if this helps, but I hope it does..

What Epoxy floor paint did you use? How long has it been down? How is it holding up? How was the installation?

I am looking at many different products and at 1200 sq ft I only want to do this once.

I have some samples of the the Sam's Club tile. It appears to me that they really are not too flat? also I would guess that these are some cheap copy of RaceDeck that Sam's Club had made in China, that is why it is thinner as it you can fit more in a container that way.I am have done some importing and once you make the product, it all comes down to what it costs to get here. You gotta love Sam's Club, find a great product, make a cheaper copy of it and then go and try to sell at as "just like" the other guys in the USA a
The pictures on the box also look like some bad PhotoShopping going on :)

Wow, thats a huge difference. I was under the impression that Racedeck, sams club stuff and Motto were all the same. Glad I went with the motto.

Sandoval,
I guess costco has an ongoing sale with that stuff. The sale just ended for the tiles on the 2nd for the same discount, and I thought I was special :( haha.
I didn't know you were a 6speeder, but I should have guessed. I frequent that forum as well.

I wondered this too. My new workshop is 4" higher than my old garage, so I built in a concrete ramp that rises 4" over about 3'. I was concerned about the transitions from horizontal to ramp to horizontal. I talked with Racedeck, and they scratched their heads audibly before suggesting that, yes, maybe if I heated the tiles in the oven to 150ºF or so I could bend them to follow the contours of the floor. As it turns out I didn't need it because the racedeck is flexible enough that the transitions don't cause any problem. (I may still try taking a heat gun to the course of tiles at the top of the ramp because it's not quite perfect there -- you can feel a gap between the tile and the concrete when you walk on it -- but it looks right and seems perfectly functional.)

I also have a .5"/10' slope from the outside edges of the workshop floor to the drain in the center, and the racedeck follows these contours perfectly.

Certainly interested to see the comparison. Sort of a general question - how flat does your garage floor need to be to use these types of products. (actual dims of allowed slope/transition)
