Flooring Nailer/Stapler

I searched but couldn't find a recent thread...

Got carried away at a Black Friday sale on hardwood flooring and ordered 850 sq ft, underlayment, and trim. Now, I need to find a floor nail gun to install it. I have a 33 gal 110v air compressor and a lot of DeWalt 20V max batteries.

I was leaning towards the pneumatic DEWALT Flooring Stapler, 2-in-1 Tool (DWFP12569) but am open to any suggestions. Also, any hints or other tools that will make the job easier/look better would be great.

Looks similar to the bostich one I have. Will definitely make your life easier. Mine came with a double sided hammer, soft non marring on one side and steel on the other. Works well.

Also try and find something along these lines. https://www.powernail.com/tools/powerjack-500/. One of my favorite flooring tools.

A regular 15ga angled finish nailer will be your friend for the courses when you get closer to the wall and can’t swing the hammer to hit the flooring nailer.

And a flush cut saw for cutting door jambs also. Good luck!

Hit the local pawn shop (LPS) or FBM or CL...Then sell it after you're done for the same price. The LPS would be the first choice for used because you at least get a 30 day guarantee. What I'm not sure of is hoe the pandemic is affecting LPS inventory and such.

I have two older ones, The newer Banks one from HF are supposedly better. Nail wise, don't get it from them (HF)... I got a box of 2000 or something staples from HomeDepot Bostich. Cleats are supposedly better that staples..

That power jack is nice if you can justify it. otherwise I used a 2x4 scrap 3.5" screws + a scrap piece and a big crowbar slowly.

I bought an air powered Bostitch stapler for my floors. It did a great job across the 1800 square feet of engineered hardwood I installed. I believe it's limited to 5/8" thick material.

Unless you plan on doing a lot of floors, I would “rent” one. (Buy on CL, and resell it when done. ) Seems there are always 2-3 for sale here. And such a single function tool, seems hard to justify storing it for another use.

I've ran 15-20 thousand NAME BRAND cleats through a HF one with not a single misfire or jam.

One of the few things I suggest buying used. There are dozens out there that were bought new and used for one job.

Mine was used by a one timer, came with a box of nails, and worked for my one off job. I paid probably half price, and will probably break even when I get around to selling it.
