Flooring Options for a Rental

Hello all,

New member, and will soon be moving into a condo with a 1 car garage my gf and I are renting.

Since we are renting, for at least a year, I'm not too interested in epoxy or any other time-intensive/permanent options.

I am looking for something to cover the garage for:

1) Rinseless washes, detailing car
2) Potentially added cushion while detailing/working on car
3) Isolation of snow, rain, mud since I live in the north east.
4) Material that can handle a floor jack without it being a hazard (slipping, etc)
5) something to aid in any oil/fluid spills. I do topside oil changes with an evacuator so typically oil spills aren't an issue -- but accidents happen!

So, I don't know if tiles are the best option, or if I should just get a roll of a carpet-like mat, or the coin rubber mats. Also, there's the option for those containment mats as well, although they seem to only benefit the dimensions of the car, and not peripheral areas of the garage?

Thanks for your help and insight!

Got my coin roll mats at Habitat for Humanity Restore for $20 new 6 years ago and they have taken a serious beating but still look better than plain dirty cracked concrete. Note they absorb oils and will show tire marks so if you are particular you may need the clear mats over the top. I think one of the guys on the forum sells them. I didnt know about them when I got mine but think they would have helped.

Thanks. There's one in my area so I'll take a look.

At the moment, a large containment mat is probably my best option. Just not sure how well a jack would work on it. May need a small mat to use the jack in the containment mat.

A containment mat on top of those carpet-like absorbent mats may be an option too. Or the absorbent mat with a pair of of protector strips.

Ultimately will wait until I have the key so I can take measurements of garage.

Our FreeFlow® Garage flooring tile is an ideal option for your application and can be taken with you when you move from this rental location. Also, you can use over various containment mats.
