While at Sears one day... I saw a Craftsman rubber mat.... that was only sold with purchase of a full tool box set...... I was bummed because I just wanted the rubber mat.... to be used as a door mat to the door into the house.....

Then.... along with my idea for my cabinet build in the garage (all posted on Welding Web.... not here...) ..... I went to Tractor Supply and bought the 4' X 6' horse stall mat... for my cabinet.... but had left over.... so made my own door mat in the garage.... since Sears wouldn't sell me theirs....

NOTE: Lots of superfluous chalk in the garage.... it keeps the 3 year old happy.......

I have carpet scraps on the doorstep, the area in front of the door step where the washer and dryer are and a runner of scrap along the main "path" going in front of my row of tool boxes to the big door. It keeps me from tracking crud into the house and it even gets vacuumed once in a while!

It works so well I did the same thing from the back kitchen door in the screen room to the outside door of the screen room (straight shot) to keep from tracking into the kitchen. 10-12 ft of walking (scrubbing if I know my soles are wet/messy) and I generally don't track anything.

So whats 37 x 32? The mat?

No I was going to cut a piece out that size for the door mat and was teaching Ava how to do deminsions with her sidewalk chalk.

I ended up cutting the mat to be 37" X 24" becuase 32" was going to cut to far into the mat which I need for another project.

The bottom of the mat is jagged so I turned the rough side up and the smooth side down. That way it will work well to wipe shoes off on the rough surface.

I have a piece under our clothes washer so it won't walk around. the left over is in front of a work bench. If you bought the 3/4" thick mat, that thing is way too heavy for one person to carry around...

I just used a box knife. It does not cut easily. It is 3/4" thick and took several passes with the knife to cut through it. It works, but sure made my hands tired.

I almost pulled out the jigsaw to do it.

The thing is super heavy. Those door mats won't be moving around on their own, that's for sure. Very heavy duty and worth every bit of the $40 at Tractor Supply.
