Florescent Lighting Question

OK, I've got a 2 car garage about 22x22 with 14' ceilings. I want to install more lighting and figure two rows of 4' strips over each bay should be fine for now. My problem is the only electrical source is the two ceiling fixtures that have one incandescent bulb in each, no recepticles anywhere.

My questions is:
Can I just buy a screw in type recepticle adapter (unscrew the bulb and screw in the recepticle) and plug in a power strip in each and then plug the 4 light strips in the power strip?

Is this acceptable or am I asking for problems, fire or otherwise.....

If so do any of you have a suggestion on a lighting solution that doesn't involve an electrician....

Visit Home Depot or Lowes and go to the electrical section and pick up 2 round metal receptacle with 2 outlets in each one. They are roughly $3.50 per receptacle and are the exact same size as the housing fixtures for the incandescent bulbs. Remove the incandescent fixtures (remember to shut the power off at the breaker) and re-wire each fixture with the metal receptacle. Voila, you now have 4 outlets in your ceiling. This should take you roughly 20 minutes. Very easy as long as you can operate a screw driver.

I did the exact same thing in my garage and added 4 flourescent light fixtures with 3 bulbs per fixture. With 12 flourescents in my 20 X 24 garage, it is pretty bright in there. Some here will still say that the brightness could be improved upon with a few more fixtures, but going from 120 watts (2 60 watt bulbs) to 388 watts flourescent is a drastic and welcomed improvement. Be sure to get T-8 fixtures as they work better in colder temperatures versus T-12s.

get the clear 300 watt bulbs (use your existing fixtures) and you will have 600 watts in your garage.
