Thought I would start a new thread with what I am doing, and lessons learned so far from my first epoxy garage floor. Previous thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205114 gave an overview but I'll finish on this thread.
Three car garage, 730 sq feet. Ordered the Epoxy-Coat premium kit with clear coat, and have painted the walls and ceiling prior to the floor.
Prep Floor
1. Thankfully the concrete is bare, so took putty knife and scraped anything sticking up.
2. Scrubbed the floor with straight Simple Green and pressure washed it.
3. Watched the instructional DVD and took notes, and following Epoxy-Coat's directions fully. Watch the video on their website if you are new to doing this. It really helps no matter what brand you buy!
4. Garage is 22' deep and 33' wide, so I plan on doing half batches and doing 10'x12' sections. I am doing it myself, so I figure I'll have time to spread and roll the smaller sections. I'll have a couple sections that will be odd sized and will end up mixing a quarter batch to ensure even coverage.
5. Painted the walls and ceiling before the floor. Easier to clean up a little latex paint off the concrete and not mess up the pretty epoxy.
6. Acid etched the floor with the kit floor prep. Mixed according to the directions and had just the right amount. Get a cheap watering can and some of those disposable painter's measuring buckets to do the mixing and portioning on the prep solution so you spread it evenly.
7. Used the Behr degreaser and cleaner on the tough stains full strength and scrubbed in with brush and let them sit.
7. Rinsed according to the directions, and then pressure washed it again. Stains are gone and no film from acid etching.

This is where I am at currently. Next steps will be to acid etch parts of the floor again as areas are failing the water droplets test. Will get new pics up tomorrow of the progress.

I don't think etching will improve that.

Hmm why do you think that will not help? I am just following the directions from Epoxy-Coat. The areas in question are not stained or greasy. Figure I just did not get enough acid on them.

If you are using 100% solids, I assume that means you want the best results and best product, I think doing the best prep is recommended. I just finished my first epoxy floor, but if prep is 90% of the battle - Diamond grind your floor.

Why use 100% solids if its not going to adhere to the concrete?

if it's beading, then there is contamination. search for beading in flooring forum. this was covered recently. in any event, I agree you should grind your floor instead.
