Hello,
Long time lurk first time poster.
I have started a remodel of the interior of my detached garage. The garage was already built when I purchased this house approximately 5yrs ago. The layout is two bays and a tool room down stairs and a large loft upstairs. The tool room and loft are airconditioned. I have already done a bit of work to the loft area and am now working on the tool room and main garage. Anyways here is what im starting with.

The previous owner and builder of the garage did wood work in that area. He said he went with the french doors for a better seal over a bay door while running the ac but still be able to bring large items in.

The garage originally had wood stairs going to the loft from the tool room. A friend of mine has a wife who works for a development company and that company had a party in a building they bought in the riverside area of Jacksonville Fl. My friend noticed a set of metal stairs in the building he thought would work well in my garage. After some measurements and getting the green light from her boss we got them out prior to the building being demolished. Here are some pics of the old stairs coming out and new stairs being test fit.

First, welcome fellow Floridian.
Nice shop you have there. Looks like a nice conditioned place to work. Look forward to seeing what you'll be doing in the future.

I must ask, what was wrong with the original floor?
Also how easy and how well did it poor out? My bathroom could use leveling.

I went over the floor with a 6ft level and the floor had a high spot in the middle of the room also the finish where the raised lip meets the actual floor the finish was not that great. The henrys did a great job fixing both problems. The process was easy using 3 people. My wife was measuring and pouring the water into buckets, I was pouring the dry product into the buckets and mixing and a friend was pouring onto the floor and spreading with a squeegee. I was actually really impressed at how well it worked and the finish of the dryed floor. I put down the henrys floor primer about 12hrs before pouring the floor. I ordered Racedeck so with a floating tile I wanted it as level as possible.

After leveling the tool room floor a test fit revealed the door would not clear the racedeck. I spent the day replacing the door with one that opens outward to the main garage.

I'll have to give the leveling a try. My area will only be about 5x5'
It's nice having these door/jam assemblies. Sure makes flipping a lot easier.

I like the layout of your garage. what are the dimensions of the overall garage and whats the size of the tool room? I have thought about putting up a wall in my single bay so that I could protect the cars from metal work and wood work with out having to always pull the cars out of the garage first. If you can post some wide open pictures of the whole garage and the notch too.

Shortykorte: I agree the prehung doors do make it easy.
Stangspace: The garage is 34x24. The inside of the tool room is 23x10. Unfortunately I sold my 1993 notch a bit ago but continue using that name as I use it on other boards. The foxbody in the pic is a 1991 LX 5.0/5sp vert with 19k miles.

That vert is a time capsule!! It is getting harder and harder to find a nice original foxbody. Thanks for the measurements. I look forward to see the progress on your garage. It is very similar to how I would do mine.

Yes kind of an army green. Had a projector setup up there but wasn't crazy about it and took it down. I am just going to put a 65inch tv up there.

Cool space. Kinda looks like an army tent or Quonset hut. Some 40's decor to go with the desk and chair.

Thanks Shortykorte...kinda what I was going for. I wanted to have the vibe of Dr Nevilles apartment in the omega man. Every thing up there except for the rug I bought off of Craigslist. The tanker desk I bought for $50 from a kid who had just graduated from the University of Florida. I did a rattle can paint job on it and it turned out great. The flat file I got for $100 added some Tractor Supply castors and its a great coffee table. The end table is a ww2 medical supply chest dated Dec 1944. The crate is for Russian Mosin nagant rifles.

Is there a manufacturer's tag on the metal desk? Who, and where was it made?

The General Chennault P-40 Warhawk paintjob on what I suppose is a training ordinance is cool. Some work with a plasma cutter would make that into an interesting vertical storage area.

Wow, another Floridian with a bomb in his garage, I love it. I need to get a pic of mine, it used to be the light fixture outside an officer's club I think.

It's a good thing you moved all that stuff up before you replaced the stairs, it would be hard to get that desk up the spiral ones.

The guy who powder coated the staircase had a training bomb he had powder coated in his office that was really nice. I tried to buy it but he wouldn't sell. The desk is a Steelcase from Michigan I believe, not sure of the year. I disassembled the desk to paint it and it could be brought down that way but it would be a chore. Hope it be in this house for the next 20yrs

Finally made a little progress. I spray painted a Craigslist workbench that turned out pretty decent then bought a couple of cabinets and got my tool box moved in

Looking good. Don't let CB acres see that freshly painted blue bench. Nice find. I like how it has the backsplash and the holes to mount power receptacles.

The main garage area is cleaned out and down to just two cars, a dirtbike, beer fridge, and 7 drawer filing cabinet. Love the race deck in the tool room but going to apply epoxy in here. Most likely the HD kit from Legacy Industrial.
Yes that is a real 69 Trans am...No it isnt for sale.
The ta isnt even mine just storing it for a friend.
