Hello, I'm a guy working in my garage on whatever needs fixing around the house. I also enjoy carpentry and mechanics, I have motorcycles because they take-up less space than cars, and are generally cheaper, with more performance.
I haunt yard sales, Habitat for Humanity, craigslist, and business closings, seeking-out whatever is of-interest, primarily old tools. I also re-sell some of what I find, last couple of days I sold a probably 47 year-old Craftsman radial arm saw, split-phase 110/220V., I think it was a 1969 model, cast-iron arm and steel pylon and vertical tube, I've had stored for probably 25 years after I bought it from a co-worker who used it to make roof trusses for his home re-model, and then had no use for it. It needed a bevel gear & shaft for the cantilever arm, replaced, I got one N.O.S. off ereplacementparts.com, and restored it to use w/a new tabletop & on/off switch. I sold it on craigslist cheap, the buyer asked for a 'discount,' and I told him it was already discounted in the asking price. I probably just recovered my cost of item & repairs, but that's OK, 'opportunity cost' for getting rid of it freed-up $ for me to buy a HFT floor model blasting cabinet. I've borrowed the use of one from friends for years, but now I get to put my 60 gallon 220 volt twin-cyl air compressor to use. I bought the compressor at a local scrap metal shop. It was still on the Home Depot shipping pallet, evidently someone allowed it to fall while unloading the truck, it was bent, but I rescued it for $20! Eventually I replaced the compressor but the motor has worked fine the whole time. Now I'll be able to easily strip my parts.
