Flourescent Fixtures on Metal Ceiling

Hello folks,

I just recently got my Dura-Panel metal ceiling in and I'm prepping for the electrician to come in and complete the finish electrical and light it up, so to speak. Most of the lighting is coming from 8 flourescent light fixtures that I've had laying around for a couple years, reclaimed from an old university building. They are in good shape, just touching up the paint a little bit here and there.

My problem lies in that I'm not sure what is the best way to install these onto the ceiling. Due to the corrugations, I don't have a flat surface to mount to. From the pics below you can see the fixtures are quite wide and would span several corrugations of the ceiling. I also need to be covering up the junction box openings, and I suppose hanging from short lengths of chain is an option but I wonder if that's the best way to do it.

You can buy round box covers with a 1/2 knockout in it for you to run a wire whip. That would keep it looking clean and allow you to hang the fixtures.

If you can locate the studs, a good long 3/8 self drilling screw through it would work to flush mount.

If its just tin, you could get by with toggle bolts for flush mount.

Mount eye bolt with a screw end if you can get into wood, or wing on a threaded one for tin. Than hang chain, or you can buy adjustable fixture cables.

These are what we use most of the time. Allows you to adjust to any height you want, and can change at a later time. Sure you can find cheaper than this website, but its just to show you.
