I want to put a flourescent 2 bulb T8 fixture over a utility sink, but the best way to do it for me would be a wall mount. Can I wall mount a standard T8 2 bulb (normally ceiling mount) fixture?

If you haven't bought it, I'm thinking a couple of plastic or porcelain sockets and CFL's would work as well. Or, I'd simply drop by my local Habit For Humanity ReStore and pick up a three or six bulb chrome light fixture designed to wall mount and have exposed bulbs, and mount it and the CFL's.

To answer your question, I think unless the fixture has information on a sticker on or in it or in the instructions telling you that you cannot......... there is nothing to stop you from wall mounting the fixture.

The short answer would be yes.

Why don't you mount some L brackets to the wall and mount the ceiling mount fixture to them? That way the light will shine down onto the sink, instead of out into the room.

Good idea. Better yet - mount a cabinet or two over the sink - you'll probably need the storage space anyhow. And mount the light to the bottom of the cabinet.

The decent electronic ballasts don't put out much if any heat, so you can mount it any way or angle you please.
