Hey guys!
I am starting to shop for a multimeter and was wondering if there is a lot of difference between the 115 and 111 Flukes. I would be using it for automotive work. What I know so far after printing out the specs.
- 111 - discontinued but us made vs 115 foreign made.
- 111 replaced by 115
- It looks like the 115 is supposedly capable of better resolution and accuracy.
- DC V max resolution 111:1MV 115: .1MV (I question this spec as it seems very low and elsewhere in the specs it shows it only going to .001 V (lowest)when on the 6V scale)
- DC V Accuracy of reading 115: .5% +2 and 111: .7% +2
- DC amperage specs seem the same except for a 20 amp overload feature on the 115.
- What am I missing. What functions are different between the two?
- Anybody use the 111 in automotive?
Thanks!
Fred

Why buy something this is discontinued? I have the 115 no issues. Buy the 117 if you want to.

If you want to spend more money buy the 87

In case you change your mind, I have the 77-4 and it's been super sweet. I had to hover over ebay for about a year before I found one at a good price.

The 111 is a great meter but the one issue is that it doesn't have a backlight. The 112 has the backlight but it's the old style, not the bright new LED style. 115 is a great meter, it is a little bigger but not a lot. The lead holder on the case is better on the 115, in my opinion.

I buy used Flukes all the time, you can find some great deals at pawn shops...and they're Flukes so as long as they aren't abused they'll be spot on accurate.
