Lifetime guarantee  It's a basic china made meter with a 3 year warranty. Fluke is getting pretty strict on warranty work.

It's not really a automotive specific meter, there are much better options out there. What features do you need? Why not go with your beloved snap on brand.

I'm not a pro, but have a 179 and very happy with it. Does everything I need on the cars. The back light is a big plus when you're under a car or having to work on something at night.

I have one I use to work on airplanes with. Works great and does everything I need it to.

O shoot this guy uses it on airplanes, it must be good. :lol_hitti

Please note Jbizzle, nothing against you, that just reminded me of the popular marketing slogan "aircraft grade" aluminum.

i seem to think i remember reading that the fluke "lifetime warranty" was not defined as the lifetime of the user, but rather there expected lifetime of the instrument, which was 7 years. maybe its changed.

Your correct on the warranty. It is a life cycle warranty, 7 to 10 years. It pays for itself sometimes. The 115 is a good basic meter. It really depends how accurate you need and what your working on.

The 113 through 117 meters are geared towards electrical industrial and HVAC users. It is not an electronics technician's meter but will do 90% of the needs of one. Lacks lower end fine amperage and voltage measurements.

Good meters but I would not press it into a primary meter for automotive diagnostic use for anything outside of checking 12volt systems and open/short work.
