Anyone have any experience with the Fluke 233 remote display meter? Am I wrong in thinking this would be the handiest meter ever?

My biggest concern would be in how fast the display can respond to changes. As far as utility it would be handy in some circumstances.

No experience, but I have looked at it and handled it personally when the Matco guy brought it into the shop last week. It's been my experience that Fluke stuff is pretty nice, as well as being tough too. At $420, I was really thinking hard about it. Being able to hook up a meter to a component, and then operate a vehical or piece of machinery without being tethered by test leads would be quite nice!

Honestly, I'd buy it because it was a Fluke and have had excellent experience with the brand. That said, I didn't buy it. I'm so broke I can't even afford to pay attention!:spit:

It would be useful every once in a while. Not enough for me to upgrade though. I've got a few reels of wire for the rare occasions two pairs of leads coupled together aren't long enough.

Noticed Fluke mentions it being useful for hazardous areas. I agree it would IF the remote display had a Class 1 Div 1 rating. Couldn't find any mention of an approval and judging by the battery compartment it's highly unlikely one exists.

I sold two so far off my truck and no complaints. I have not had them that long and need to order two more. I get 365.00 for them

Thanks for the replies, looking to replace my older "cheapie" meter, this loked like a great idea to me. Any functions that you see missing on this meter that an automotive mechanic might use?

I was at a Fluke thermal imaging class a few weeks ago and they had one of these that they were showing off. It was well built reacted just as fast as any other Fluke ive used, and was just all around cool. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if i was in the market for a new meter
