Fluke Meter Max Amps

I am curious if the momentary inrush current will blow the fuse in the meter. I have a fluke 87v and does 20 amps ac or dc for 20 seconds. If the inrush current of the compressor I am testing is 50 amps per say, will that blow the fuse as that is not the continuous amp draw?

Thanks

They make a clamp meter attachment for the 87. If you have an 87 already it's worth buying.

Fuses, in general, do NOT respond quickly. They may take 100s of microsecond to blow even when the current is several times the fuse rating.

50% over rating could require multiple seconds.

You could pick up a current shunt of eBay for a couple of dollars if you don't want to invest in a clamp

Ok, thanks for the replies. I guess the amp function on a DMM is really only for lights and parasitic draws. I will just get a 381 with Inrush current I guess.....
