Fluke Vibration tester

I recently inherited a Fluke Vibration Tester 810.
Never knew anything like this existed but after reading the quick start guide it makes perfect sense.
Not sure what imma do with it, prolly sell it...

Anyone out there have any experience with these?

Vibration monitoring is heavily used in manufacturing plants to monitor big dollar motors and gearboxes. They're quite expensive... Is it in good shape?

No idea what the used market is on stuff like this. Considering the target audience, I'd suspect a used sale may be tough

We (my employer) tend to have one per site. Sensors will get installed around the plant and then they'll have a single unit to do monitoring periodically. It's something that every maintenence manager wants

I use apps in my cell phone to graph 2d and 3d vibration of equipment. It seems to be more sensitive than other accelerometer monitoring devices I have. So far I've found it useful at monitoring belt wear, bearing issues and even pump cavitation.

I believe you, and I'd sure love one, but my test equipment budget has me using the free apps for this right now. I did just buy a few ultrasonic flow meters, but your Fluke should fetch on eBay 20x what I paid for those.

As said, regularly used in industry to monitor things like bearings beginning to fail. Not sure on resale value because it's going to be used primarily in industry and they are 99.9% going to buy new to ensure accuracy.

Anyone out there have any experience with these?

Former employer had one. He always talked about going out and doing vibro testing on motors and pumps... and pump alignments.

Said there was "all kinds of work to do".

Never happened.

Got to use those tools a couple of times. Learned enough to see that the vibro testing was essentially useless as a one time event and needed a database and tracking over time.

The Fluke software seems to do that, but said employer was interested in the sale and collecting the check and wasn't making an investment in the tech requirements to run and maintain those reports.

He talked about that **** for years. I think it could have been a gold mine, but nothing happened. I wasn't going to spearhead anything without extra money.

No harm in listing it on eBay but without a current calibration, good luck.
