Fluorescent light connections?

I currently have two fluorescent fixtures and a single standard light bulb socket in my garage. The fluorescent fixtures have bad ballast and need to be replaced, the are currently wired with plugs and there is an outlet fixture. Should I replace them and continue using the plug connections, or go to straight hardware connections?

I'm planning on adding more lights, I'd like to have enough light to need sunglasses  if they're all on, I hate using drop lights. I'm not electrical at all so any of this work will be done with professional help or just hired out all together.

If the fixtures have a knockout slug in the end, you could join them using a box spacer or fittings and EMT, and wire them directly together.

I ran mine in rows using box spacers, connected together like one long electrical chase. The first fixture in a row is at a ceiling box, and the rest feed back to there.
