Fluorescent Light Intermittent ON

I have this in my shop. The tubes are probably 3 +/- years old.





PROBLEM- Sometimes when I turn the light circuit switch all the other lights come on but this one does not. Cycling the switch sometimes helps or tapping the tubes lightly.

Today I would not come on at all so I got new tubes and a ladder but when I climbed up and just touched the tube both came on full bright an now seem to work fine.

This can be an aggravating item in my day. Any ideas?

Also you can clean the pins(scotch bright) and bend them in or out a schoch to give a better grip on connection. That's what I did on mine.

Very likely to be dirty connections where the wires plug into the tubes.

The light in our kitchen uses the 24" horseshoe shaped bulbs.
It would act up the same way.
I took the bulbs down, washed them, with windex, reinstalled and they work perfectly now.
