Fluorescent on a Swivel. On a Budget too!!

Hi, I have just registered and I am very impressed with the great information on your journal.

My garage is just a mess most of the time but I do have one feature I am proud of. My overhead light!

I am a great believer in using what you have lying around. I don't like to be wasteful, and I am quite "frugal". So when I had a 4 foot fluorescent that was no longer needed where it was, I decided to put it in the garage. No matter where I thought of hanging the fixture, it did not cover the entire area and I was too "frugal" (cheap) to buy more lights. So I took some stuff I had lying around and came up with this.

I used some old copper pipe.

And some iron pipe for the Swivel.

very creative, i never would have thought of that. couldnt you buy like 3 more of those fixtures for what the copper pipe is worth though?

It's worth pretty much nothing if you have no other use for it. Maybe $1 for scrap... bout it.

It was just stuff I had lying around. If I recall, some of it was even split from when it had frozen and been replaced the previous winter. Any of the rest that was still good I thought I could just get out the propane torch, take apart, and reuse elsewhere. I suppose you could use some left over PVC pipe just as well, but once you have glued-up PVC you can't reuse the elbows etc.
It sure has been convenient to use and the extension cord allows me to plug in a hand held light also.
