Fluorescent T8 Heat

I have a 19' x 20' garage with ~10' ceilings with all walls and ceiling insulated.

I don't have any lighting currently but I am looking to add 4 T8 fixtures with 4 tubes in each fixture (16 tubes total).

I am trying to decide between fluorescent and LED T8 tubes. A key factor for me is heat.

Q: For those with fluorescent T8 tubes, how much heat do they give off? I want to avoid feeling a temperature difference with the lights on vs. lights off.

For context, a temperature difference can be felt in my garage if I have a halogen work light on for ~20min.

Thanks!

There are two issues. First, halogen uses a lot of watts, so it heats the room. Second, halogen puts out a lot of IR, so standing in the beam is like being under a heat lamp.

Neither LED nor fluorescent suffer from those issues.

You won't notice any difference between the heat given off by the T8 fluorescents and LEDs for the same amount of lighting.

T-8 emits minimal, minimal heat. They can be on for hours and you can put your hand on them. Don't try that with a halogen bulb.

The simplest approximation is just to compare the total watts if each installed option - led,IC, or fluorescent.
