i want to install flush mount T8 fluorescent lighting in the drywall ceiling of my garage. The ceiling joists are 16 inches on center and the joist bays are 8feet long in some areas and 12 feet in others. The drywall will be 5/8 inch.

What brand fixture are others using that flush mount with drywall and have their own lense? I really do not want a surface mount fixture as it promotes dust collection. The troffer lights are advertised for use with dropped acoustic ceiling tiles versus drywall. I know that i can build my own recessed box in the joist cavity, install a strip light type fixture, and then attach my own lense with some trim, but i would rather get a complete fixture that does this. I will need IC (insulation contact) rated fixtures.

Links to web product pages would be appreciated.

Both Lowes and HD have flush sheetrock mount t8 fixtures that will fit between 16" centers. They run about $50 each and fit inside a 12" wide x around a 50" long hole. I am installing 8 of them in a garage i am sheetrocking right now. They work with 4 fold-away clamps that flip out behind the sheetrock when you start tightening the mounting screws. I actually built wooden 2 x 2 frames inside the joists before the sheetrock went up since the fold-away clamps have about a 3" grip range but they should work just fine without the frame.
