Fly traps?

Apparently I have a fly problem in the garage this year. I don't know if it's the weather or I did a particularly good job getting rid of spiders but they have increased 10 fold from typical years.

In the garage they aren't a big deal, but they make a beeline for the attached house whenever my wife lags in the doorway with our toddler.

Any tips on getting them under control? I'm hoping to catch them all in the garage so they don't migrate for my living space.

I have those sticky things that you pull out of the tube and hang. I found a good place out of the way on the end of my garage door track.

I saw a friend install some sticky traps for flies that adhered to your windows. Since flies are attracted to the light and you usually hear them buzzing around against the window it's a good way to trap them.

Can't wait for fall... Tired of the mosquitoes & flies...

I've also used the sticky hanging traps...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You can also go to a farm store (TSC) and look for Golden Malrin. It's supposed to catch and kill flies in barns like dairy barns etc. I've set out a bit in an upturned jar lid and have caught a few. They eat it and die. I don't know how many have eaten it and left, then died.

Man, I feel your pain.
Living in NC I don't know what it is but I have never seen so many flies. When we lived in the Raleigh/Cary area then Clayton. It was awful.
We used hanging sticky traps and it would fill up within a day or two. I stopped using them when we caught a small bird in one.
I would put gas or paint thinner on a rag and put in the trash barrel to try and kill them off. It worked but can be a pain to keep it up.
We recently moved to the coast and its not so bad out here.

We had a warm winter in Indiana.... instead of getting frozen to death, bugs and flies were busy in *** parties...

I've never seen so many fruit flies inside the house.

I've had success with the round tubes that have the sticky coil inside. Leave an open bag of smelly trash outside in the garage and place a few coils around the trash. You should catch a lot of them.

I buy some bug killer spray at Lowe's. A few times killing a mass if them tends to really help.

We bought one for our kitchen at our sheet metal shop and this thing works! We leave it on 24/7. You have to change out the flypaper every now and then, just like anything.

You can build something like this yourself for a few dollars. "Bait" is fresh dog/forse/cow manure. Flies enter through a small hole in the center of the raised bottom.

One horse farm reported they had to empty it DAILY because it had POUNDS of flies !
