Hello everyone,
I got sucked into the Garage Journal because of BB767's 1930's shop overhaul and have really enjoyed poking around for the last couple of weeks. I'm made a couple of posts but now its time to introduce myself.

A little about me: I like long walks on the beach, fabricating, needle point & huffing brake cleaner. Oops, that's my my profile on lonelygaragetrollsneedlovin'too.com.

I'm an engineer on a ship, so I do everything from electrical to plumbing to diesel repair/maintenance and yes, fabrication. One of the first questions that I was asked in my interview was, "can you weld?". Since then, I've turned into the go to guy when metal needs to get **** together.

My garage is in an ever changing effort to get ten pounds of sh!t into my five pound bag. I want to add a lathe and small mill/drill to my list of toys in the next year, so that means downsizing my 66"x42" welding bench and putting more things on casters so they can be highly mobile.

I'm glad I found this place. It seems like a wealth of information.

...and the 1970's desk turned welding bench that I need to sell (Vise not included). It is wired so you can plug a 110v welder in underneath the middle and has 4 receptacles by the vice for your power tools.

I posted up in "The Vises of Garage Journal" thread the other day. It is a Monarch No. 219 manufactured by Prentiss. rwhite692 linked me to some info on it just after I posted a pic of it.

Welcome to the GJ. Nice shop. Space...Organized...Well lit.
sj:beer:

I figured that six, 8' two element fixtures was enough for my 25' x 25' space. The garage I grew up w/ was at least 25' x 40' and had two 4' two element fixtures in it. I hate low lit shops. I guess the pendulum has swung far the other way. My brother's place even has lights recessed in the walls.
