fng with an Air compressor set up ?

I installed my 60 gallon compressor. Now I'm to the point of getting the air lines run. I know how to run the metal lines, what my question is what do I need for filters and stuff..

please hurry Im going to install the lines tomorrow and just found this site. I am a member of the HAMB and figured this would be better address here in this forum!

filters are nice but all you really need is a trap for moisture. you can do that by having a 2 ft section of pipe with a ball valve under your air hose quick connects. if you're running the lines overhead i'd put one at the point where you run the line up from the compressor too.

What is the primary function of you compressor? We always like to put a water separator, oil coalesor & regulator. A automatic drain is a nice feature, about a $100.00.
What size is your compressor? How many feet of pipe are you running?

60 gallon. mainly for air tools, but I plan on painting also. Nothing that will be displayed at Goodguys though..lol

probably about 20 feet of pipe to a retractable hose reel.

also any pictures? and where is the best place to find the drain or what not to complete this. I have Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, Blains Farm N Fleet ,and Harbor Freight to choose from

How many cfm's does your compressor produce?
Automatic drain can be purchased at Grainger's or any good compressor supply.

I've been using Dryaire system. No problems. I get clean dry air. I've used it for painting and running small sandblaster. See link below.

I use the Sharp Dryaire setup also. best price I found was a dealer on ebay $343 for all of three, including ball valve, pressure gauge, regulator, and all the fittings and bracket to mount.

Guess Im going to have to do more research.. I was hoping to get it tomorrow and install it then. Im not sure on my CFMs I just bought the Compressor and got it hooked up to the 240. Its a Porter Cable from Blains Farm n Fleet. with 3hp running oil motor on top. I just want something to filter out some of the water. I dont need a shop style setup. I barely use my Air.

I was going to use black piping, and still am, but Ill definately double up the sealer since reading the other Air thread on the board right now.

You should have a vertical line next to your air compressor so that all the water will condensate before it gets to the horizontal lines. Put a ball valve at the bottom, have your air compressor T in a foot or so above the ball valve. Put an elbow at the top of this line and route it to where ever you are going to have your hose. Put your filter as close to the destination as possible.
After plumbing my shop with black pipe I found out that it rusts, bad. If you don't drain that ball valve regularly, it will rust shut..

what do you suggest then? I used to work at a body shop who used PVC. yes I said PVC i was always worried it would explode shards of plastic into my eyes when working there.

Im going shopping today after I wake up at 1 pm. Third shift is a killer
