So I have some backed fiberglass batt insulation I will be installing in a metal building retrofit style. This is batt insulation that has been bonded to a strong, reinforced backing material that holds it in position. Think of it as taping kraft paper insulation to a ceiling or wall stud.

The usual method of installation is to tape the tabs in place with something like 3M 514CW double-sided tape...

However this is a thin tape that does not provide a thermal break between the metal purlins and the metal panels I will be adding to the interior walls after installing the insulation. I would prefer to use something like double sided foam tape to provide a thermal break and am shopping around on different types right now. It MUST be double-sided tape for the way the batts are attached.

Do any contractors or people with experience have a suggestion for double-sided foam tape that will work, and is not incredibly expensive like 3M VHT (which would be overkill)?

Thanks in advance
