Foamular 250 or 400?

Howdy folks. Just starting my new house project. We were fortunate to sell our house quickly and now looking to build on our farm in Kentucky. I have been lurking here for a while and have heard many of you putting a vapor barrier and foam down under your concrete slabs. I am putting radiant in slab in the basement and garage. What type of foam do you all think is best? The Foamular 400 list for $37.17 and I have been told the 250 is around $21.

Any additional information you all have would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the garage is scheduled to be a three car measuring 28 x 41. Many more question, but this is my starting off point.

Foamular 250. 25lbs per square inch or 3600 pounds per square foot. Unless you work on Caterpillar's.

I used the 2" Foamular 250 for my project last November. I paid $18.99 per sheet at Menards.

Foamular 400 is rated for 40 psi and has about the same R value as 250. 250 is rated for residential and light commercial concrete applications. No need to spend $37 when $21 solution works just fine. What brand and where is the $21 quote from, and was it the Tongue and Groove version??

Friartuck, good name. Chris...Thanks for the information regarding the 250 and load applications. The $21 quote came from this site. I do not know if it was T&G or not. Does it matter? I imagine that the NON t&g would be an easier product to work with.

Would be curious to see your pex tubing layout and why it was selected?? Your own design or done by a pro??

Foamular products are not treated against termites per the person I spoke with from the company. If those are a problem in your area you might treat the site for them before building because rumor is they like to tunnel through it.

Thanks Friartuck. The layout of the pex is still in the theoretical stage. Just now putting in the road and the bridge to the property. Don't see the ACTUAL building of the site till hopefully later in the summer. The 18 inches of snow really doesn't help the timeline. I plan on using a professional layout for the pex. I also am using a professional layout for the underfloor main level plan for the radiant. I don't do this for a living so I'm not even going to try and "look" professional. Have it designed and copy it exactly.

Possum, good to know. Yep, KY has a termite problem, so I will have the area treated. I also intend to put down a vapor barrier before the Foamular 250.

Any more words of advise?
