Foil faced EPS insulation around barn PT boards

I have some left over foil faced EPS insulation from the barn roof. Thinking of putting it around the barn bottom pressure treated boards and then grade the earth out around it. This way the soil is not in direct contact with bottom boards, and hopefully last longer.

EPS insulation boards are faced with foil layer on one side. Wondering which side should be against the pressure treated bottom boards and which one should be towards the outside (and hence come in contact with soil)?

Thanks a lot!

I had ants tunnel into open-cell foam (blueboard) and fill it mostly full of dirt where I’d tried something not exactly like what you’re doing. Also, the foam will hold in moisture and give fungus a dark place, but the p.t. is good at the surface so you might not get any rot at all. I wouldn’t go to a lot of extra trouble and would consider it an experiment.

Ok thanks. I talked to local Ace Hardware employee and after talking to him thinking of not putting EPS insulation around the barn. Thanks for your response.
