I found these in Wayfair for $25.00 each. It's going to take a little fab work to get three of them mounted to the HF cabinet, but I thought it would be a nice perch for the laptop when running diagnositics on vehicles, as well as a place to rest manuals, etc while working. The top metal lip that "clips" to the edge of the HF cabinet is not "U" shaped like I would have liked, but haven't decided if it's worth the trouble trying to bend it. They seem sturdy enough and would make a nice small table to sit at for smaller work. Then can fold down to save space.

Can you bolt it to the spare "handle holes" on the end of the HF cabinet?
Just put a spacer plate between, to accommodate the bent over lip depth.

Yes. It has some pre-cut holes for mounting at the top. Of course they don't match up to the HF cabinet handle holes, but that's nothing a drill won't fix. The vertical plate has two dimples towards the bottom to make it stand out about a 1/4" from the box. I think a couple holes drilled and a washer or two, and it's mounted on the end. I bought three of them so I could have two mounted opening to the back of the HF cabinet and one for the unhandled end. That way, I'd have options as well as a decent bar if the friends are over. I'm not sure two bolts would be secure to the back of the cabinet, but a pattern of rivets should hold them nicely on the back side.

Here is a final update for the folding tables to the HF chest. Turned out really well. I riveted the vertical plates of the tables to the chest. The tables had a "flat" lip that overhangs the top edge of the chest, and I rounded these down with a hammer and then covered the chipped paint with some red vinyl tape which actually matched perfectly. The tables lock in place easily, fold down well, and are strong for what they are. I'm going to make a second notch on at least one to have a "reading table" with one which will have a tilted position which woudl hold a laptop, service manual, etc. With all three in the "up" position, it makes for a good bar too.

Looks good. I might try this myself! Thanks for the idea.

Looks really good, nice job. What's that you've got stuck on the front of the full width drawer?

Re: Fold down tables for HF cabinet (other mods added)

Updated the chest with a few more mini-mods. I've added a couple hooks on the back for easy storage of my Ex-Cel creeper manufactured in Decatur, AR. Not shown in this picture is also a power strip added between the two rear fold down tables. The only thing left is to add my flourescent magnifying desk lamp as a workstation light.
