Fold up and out bench

I need to build a bench beneath some cabinets. Because the bottom of the cabinets are too low to work under, I need to have the bench not only fold up but also pull out at least 18 inches. I'm thinking either heavy duty drawer slides or table extension hardware. My only concern is side to side stability. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

That's a tough one. For the side to side stability, possibly mount drawer slides sideways in addition to the usual in and out mounting.Possibly would require some welding fabrication.

I would build a bench that was on locking casters that you can roll out from under the cabs, use and put back when done. would be a much stronger setup IMO.

How bout it flips up then the top also folds out out for the extension. You'd have to make a lock of some sort to lock the 1st fold before you fold it down.

edit: Also once extended you could slide in a bar/pipe on the bottom or w/e to make the top more rigid maybe.
