All,

Hey there. It's been a while since I have posted but I have some time and wanted to share one of my recent in-progress projects. I have a smaller two car garage now and have already built a heavy duty folding work bench.

In the hopes of saving space I have modified an stand up rolling workbench design that incorporates my table saw. I will mount a router in the future. The interesting part was getting the geometry of the folding table and legs to work without binding. It only took me two tries to get it to work.

Since the pictures below were taken I have reinforced the joint where the legs by the table saw mount to the rolling frame. I have added two swivel/ locking front casters. Also added two screw-in power tool hooks beneath the power strip and two removable material support hangers on the backside.

I currently have a piece of 1/4" thick plywood I had laying around mounted as the working surface. This was just so I could use it for another project that came up. Here shortly I will be adding a 3/4" plywood top with a 1" lip overhang around the entire table for clamping.

The working surface height is around 33 inches, like my folding workbench. The working surface/ table saw outfeed table is around 30" by 60." In the future I will mount a router on the opposite end of the table as the table saw.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Other than that the pictures tell the rest.

I too do woodworking in a garage. Mine is 3 bays wide, with only 2 doors. But I have a permanent resident with my '66 Mustang I have to keep covered and parked indoors.

Now that's a slick idea. I just built a woodworkers bench and my plan is to build a roll around cart for my table saw that can dock to the bench. The table is made with the casters that flip up when you get it in the location you want it in. This way I can move it to in front of the '66 when I have to pull another car in due to weather or maintenance.
Hopefully this evening I'll put the wraps on the bench and call it done.
