Folding security gate. 5ft wide, modify to 6ft

I'm looking at some surplus security gates that are a good deal for my garage to keep the dogs in. They are 5ft wide x2 is 10ft, but I need 12ft total. Looking at the design there are slots on the sides that limit how far it can accordion. If I elongate the slides more I think I could get more width. Unless I'm missing something. Anyone smarter than I have any thoughts on if this might work to gain another foot per side?

I think it would work, but it may be a bit difficult to close it back up( thinking if the pivots get over center type thing)

As The Cobbler said, might be hard to close once the arms are over pivot center. Buy 3, and bolt 2 together.

Decrease the length of the opening by making one foot filler strips on the ends of the gate?

Remember, if you get more length out of them, you will decrease the height.

Would the dogs be able to jump it then? or do you have short dogs?

Yes, a shorter height would actually be preferred, then it would be a little less jail feeling. My dogs are not small by any means (120 and 136lbs), but they don't jump either; something about the Pyranees in them I've heard. I have a 4ft tall cow panel temporary fence up right now during construction that they haven't even tried to get out of.

Possibly, I just need to keep that part after the hinge so they can still fold out of the way when I need to get big stuff through the doors. I think you guys have given me enough confidence to go ahead and pull the trigger and see if I can make them work.

What about adding more slats in the center, looks like flatbar with about 6 holes in them, that way
you don't have to alter the slots at the ends, retain the height, and the space between the slats across the
bottom. Stretching the gate out will widen the space between the slats at the bottom and raise it
farther off the ground Dogs might be able to go under it.
