Following up.

Hi guys. Merry Christmas.

Update-non: I have not been able to get the drawers out of my grandpa's old toolbox. I have removed the bottom of the box and had my sheet-metal guy bend me up a new one. I've sanded some of the large surfaces of the box and primed a bit.

I'm starting to think maybe I need a plan B when it comes to the drawers and slides in this old box. This box isn't going to get that much use anyway. It's just a keepsake, I guess.

If I didn't remove them, what would be the best way to clean them up and make them slide easily? Emery cloth, sand paper, steel wool and then some oil?

Suggestions welcome.

Here is a photo of the new bottom panel. My son is going to weld it back on.

If you can figure a way to get some DOT 3 brake on them it will eat the rust. put it on them about every 2 day for a couple of weeks and they will free up. but remember it will damage the paint also. and it must be dot 3 not dot 4 for some reason the dot 4 does not work as well
