I am planning on sectioning off and finishing a piece of my pole shed. My question is if I should pour a footing between each pole and then pour the floor seperate from the walls, just like a footing garage?

Should I worry about frost heave? If the floor without a footing gets frost heave and I have 2x4s for wall studs that rest on this non-footing slab, it will try pushing the studs up while the building stays in place because the poles are +/- 5' in the ground.

Generally speaking the goal when dealing with frost is to make sure everything moves together. If you have a pole barn that is frost protected due to the depth and construction of posts, you want to protect your slab as well.

Don't assume that the depth of your posts determines your frost resistance - frozen ground can grip and lift a post pretty easily

Protecting your slab and/or posts doesn't necessarily require a concrete foundation - a little rigid insulation goes a long way.
