I was thinking the OP was going to post a picture of the Earhardt krl 1001 combo. My dealer at the time had one brand new. As a fan I wanted it so bad, but as a poor 18, no chance of affording it.

Good God! Me thinks dad should have gone to "Collage" instead. And that has got to be the worst image of Sr. I've ever seen. I think I'll make him an offer too!

Wow. Just wow. I know they say there is a sucker born every minute, but if someone actually pay $16,000 for this, boy do I have a couple of really nice bridges to sell him :lol_hitti

This guy says there are 2500 of these faux gold-plated rat-a-tats out there. An aggregate value of $40 million? Impossible to believe.

I'm a big Sr fan but this guy is a clown. He might have cashed in right after he passed but maybe a few hundred bucks then not 16K.

None of these commemorative items ever really go up in value. IF it sold for $700 originally it's probably worth $400 now, max. Even though it looks cool it has no purpose other than a conversation piece. Who would actually use it? At least a commemorative tool box that is a collectors item could be used as furniture in a rec room etc. or even for light duty use in some1's garage. If you really have $16,000 burning a hole in your pocket, buy a in the package Dale Sr. 1/24th diecast car at a fleamarket for $25, buy a like new SO impact for $250 off Kijiji, then donate the remaining $15,725 to charity lol.
