For an ice cream machine (240/60/1) locking plug or not?

I am looking into buying a commercial ice cream machine for home use. It is a 240V/60hz single phase machine where the owner or electrician would add the correct plug to it. Machine draw is 16 amps.

I see that locking L6-20P plugs are commonly deployed in commercial kitchens but is it really necessary at home? I see a few non locking 6-20P and 6-30P that would hug the wall outlet and not stick out like an "L" plug would. Since there's zero vibration going to the plug and there's zero chance of me snagging the cord that's behind the table, why go with a locking plug? Any advice and opinions would be great, thank you!

Also, is it OK to use an L6-30 outlet & plug on a 20-amp rated circuit breaker or should the breaker and wiring be upped to 30A?

I would not use locking in a home kitchen.

If the machine draws 16A, I would think the 20A receptacle and plug would be OK. As far as I know, a 30A plug/receptacle on a 20A breaker is NOT ok (with very few limited exceptions).

L6-30 is not ok on a 20A breaker. For your countertop purposes, forget the twist lock and go with a multi-angled 6-20P like this:

Machine needs a 20a circuit.
