the dealership that i work for has multiple locations. since the 1st of the year they have laid off over 1/2 of the mechanics and transport drivers and closed the doors on one location entirely. it sucked for those that dont have a job, but it kept all of the senior techs working. last winter was bad, i was off more days than i worked. the wife got layed off dec 08 from the steel fab company she worked for, and theres more and more places closing the doors.
i thought several times of giving up the building that i rent, and selling off the tools i dont really need. if i give up the building, my wheeling truck has to go too, then why keep benders, welders, plasma cutter, chop saw and everything that ive bought to build my truck?
my home garage wont hold it all, and in town zoning wont let me keep an untagged, non street legal vehicle anywhere but inside a garage.
ive only sold 2 toolboxes in the last 30 years, both of them to a young mech that had outgrown his craftsman boxes.both boxes were sitting empty at our shop and after long consideration i finally caved in and sold them. i kick myself everytime i think about it. i could never replace them for what i paid, and that fact alone pisses me off.
sorry for rambling
