For the "Record"

Hello all ! New to the forum.
Love all the content!
So many that want to help its great !
I just picked up a #6 record vise. I wax told that it was bought in 1966. After I cleaned off the yellow paint I noticed the cast was kind of crude looking . I was curious if anyone has knowledge of the types of casting. Is it authentic ?
has it been repaired yet and so forth...

The casting on my 6" is a little rough but works fine. They have been the standard in the shops around here ever since I can remember.
I haven't seen too many of the 6-8" ones that were broken except the ones with the quick adjustment. I have seen quite a few of the #3 record vises that have broken though. I also have an Irwin Record #3 that I have beat pretty good and still works fine

Maybe it's just me, but I can think of a whole lot of other things I'd rather counterfeit than a vise.

I'm liking it more all the time. Once it gets cleaned uo and painted it should be a pass it down to the kids vise

Here's mine. Decided it's gonna be a good user on the welding bench. I'll be smart enough to use but not abuse er!! (Hopefully)
