Kennedy MC28 mid tool box. Put your 526 machinist tool box on top. Great for small stuff, But they are built like the machinist tool boxes. They are not heavy weights like Snap-on or Mac tool chests. I picked up three of them for $50 total years back. But I ended up selling them off as I wanted something a bit stronger.

Curious on these two Kennedy boxes about to hit the auction block near me.

I know that Kennedy generally are anything but rare, but I've not seen either of these two.

Curious for any insight as to the purpose of the "Half-Cantilever" box in particular, and what it is designed to mount to, as I can't imagine it can stand on it's own when full of tools or machinist specialties.

The half-cantilever attaches to the side of a Kennedy roller, giving additional storage. I am not sure if they are model specific or not though.

The half cantilever is rare, and IMO, not terribly useful. It must attach to the side of a box, and who has space to open something sideways in your shop? Surely not me.

It is a CT-4 by part number, lower left. Got this raiding out in D42jeep’s neighborhood a few years back.

The one I would get excited about is the vintage kennedy "285" or 2851 model, pre-1970. It's like a 520 but with no top storage similar to the the OP's but with more drawers. You could stack a 520 on top it.

I was at a vintage tool swap meet a while back, it was dark and I was picking through a vintage Kennedy box with old style of pull knobs for graver tools & machinist items and had zero interest in another 520. My friend was waiting very patiently for me to go through the box and I walked off. I then saw him lugging around a 2851 and asked him where the hell did he get that? He said it was the box you were scrounging through, he bought the 2851 for $30.....Doh!

I cant really find any pics of one except in a blurry 1970 catalogue. Finding it hard to find/view old Kennedy publications online

The 2 drawer...if the drawers are plastic, it is a tackle box. I had one, it moved down the road.
