That's looking great. Keep the pictures coming. As well as heating the shop, will the gas proceeds help pay for your build?

Private well, I can not sell the gas. But I do use it to heat my house and shop and do have back up generators (electricity is to cheap to run generator even with free fuel).
Even though you can't see, I needed a catch pool to keep well polution out of our watershed (inspection before drilling was allowed).

Just when you think you've seen it or done it, along comes a guy with his own gas well. That would NOT be allowed anywhere around here - pretty much all of Texas I think. Very few properties carry the mineral rights - most of us people with houses and land own only surface rights.

Falcon - I know 0 about this. Who owns the mineral rights in Texas, if not the land owner? From research last winter (did a presentation on fracking) I know PA land owners also own the minerals. Interesting!
Finishing the deck, final was 3/4 ply +1/2 ply.
I would never build without adding sheathing while flat. It was a major job to sheath the walls in place.
I also built the end walls in place, real stupid. By next build was built flat and went a lot faster. Homemade wall jacks were well worth the cost and time to build.

Way cool! Keep the pix coming.
Now for the siding. I used clear vertical grain ceder siding. It only cost about $2,000 for the shop. 5 years later when we built the house the cost went up to almost $20,000 for just a little more siding, now that inflation.

Looks like a nice house from the 'porch' side......I assume that's the side that faces the road?
Shop and house are 800 feet off the road with 500 ft off heavy brush. The general population can not see either unless they tresspass.

I don't know much - other than don't go there without a lawyer skilled in oil and gas. Most of it belongs to the state I think, or the city/town/etc. Not sure.

I posted in this thread when it first began, but somehow it didn't "take". Anyhow, Harry Truman's father did much the same thing in the late 1800's, dug a well for water, found gas, and used it to heat with.

WOW The whole time I was reading I couldn't stop thinking how nice of a garage it was and how I wish I had it myself. Then BAMM! A horrible twist! I hope they find the little b@$t@rd$ and punish them dearly. I also hope you have insurance.

It's been 4 years since it happen, I just got the pictures digitized. It's just a part of life now.
Arson is not a very high priority, they did not even send a detective out to look around.
I had water toys for the 4 of July in the shop and they were all over the yard, so kids were involved. They were city kids because I had a red farm gate locked, they removed the bolts when anyone living in the country would have just lifted it of the post.
Life goes on.

I wish i had the ability to be calm even years after the fact. this sounds horrible but those little bastards would be endentured servants right now.... holy **** im pissed off for you. but this is where i also remember that things like this only happen to those that can handle it...

What else can you do, 60 days later they broke into my house in town, stole over $20,000 worth property, used my jeep to transport and then **** and pissed in the jeep and left it beside the road.
You don't let it ruin your life.
