Thought there was a thread in Free Parking about Ford taking a write-down against their EV work, along with a linked WSJ article.

Looked interesting, and I planned to take a closer look at it, but can't find it.

Did it get deleted? If so, was there a particular reason why?

Yes they do. But they shouldn’t. A discussion about LP powered vehicles probably wouldn’t go off the rails (at least too far).

My brother’s father-in-law (long ago deceased) ran a propane delivery service. For a personal vehicle he took a few year old Cadillac El Dorado with the legendary 500 cu. in. V8 and converted it to run on Propane. The entire trunk space was consumed by a big propane tank. That white pig got about 5 m.p.g. but it was clean!

In this kind of situation, I just wish threads would get locked (as opposed to deleted).
Well it depends on which Mod took care of it, how far the offender(s) went or possibly several times it happened.

As to why, because some people can't help themselves.

Another vehicle that is on the chopping block is the VW ID Buzz,, for the next model year. My guess it may return as a hybrid. Their other EV offerings are still in production.

I did a conversion on a fleet of Bakery trucks back in the late 70's, at the time the push was for more mileage out of the engines.
They ran 292 ci GMC straight 6's and got around 220k before needing a rebuild, by 270-290k the rest of the truck was worn out the bakery owner felt if he could get past 270k on the original engine running propane it was worth the MPG hit to just trade them at that point. Didn't work out so well since the intake valves were the weak point and they started dropping valves before 200k from the extra heat in the cylinders.
