I know this is probally not the correct place but I,m wrenching on a 1986 Ford Ranger and am pulling the five speed manual trans and eventually the V-6 to replace the freeze plugs in between the engine and trans. My problem is the iclutch hose that runs from the cowl to the upper left side of the manual. Haynes doesn't mention anything as to how to disconnect the interior clutch rod that runs from the pedal thru the the cowl into the master cylinder then into the hydraulic hose and on to the transmission. Any suggestions, please. Also the Kroil he is referencing is the BEST rusted parts breaker in spray made by KANO Labs in Nashville TN available at most old fashoned parts stores under AREO KROIL, KANO KROIL, and a couple more versions excellent for soaking exhaust manifold bolts and the like. Thanks D.J.

D.J.,
You need a special tool to release the hydraulic hose that goes to your clutch slave cylinder in your bellhousing. You can get the tool (comes with a new slave cylinder)or you may be able to buy/rent. The tool is a two prong fork like tool to release the hose. Once you get the hose loose you can tie it out of the way and pull your engine. You dont even have to drain the clutch master cylinder because there is a spring loaded plug in the end of the disconnected hose. DO NOT press the clutch while the hose is disconnected from the slave cylinder, it will break the plug and you will have to buy a new hose! Ask me how I know...good luck.
