The ignition module I think is dying on my 91 Mustang, fingers are pointing at the distributor and easiest to change first is the TFI module which is held on by two 7/32" screws that require a special tool or a very thin wall socket. Anybody know what size socket fits, the OD?

I don't know the OD (it's not much over 1/4", though you could easily measure it) but I do know I had to grind down an old junk 1/4" drive socket to get it to fit.

My 5.5MM Snap-On fits right in there. It's a tight fit.

Most auto parts stores sell a inexpensive TFI removal tool as well. It is basically a stubby, thin wall, 7/32" nut driver.

It is a 5.5mm hex.

True it's metric 5.5mm but 7/32" is only a couple thousands bigger so it will work too.
A quality deep socket will probably fit without modification. I know the Snap on one does. Or grind down a cheap one.

I used a 7/32" from autozone when I did one years ago. It was a 1/4" drive that was deep and tapered. I think it was like 3 bucks.

I can bet the reason it exists is the close fit to 7/32. Somebody bought something with 7/32 bolts, tried a 1/4 and 3/16 socket and decided it must be metric and went looking for the right size metric socket. Eventually everybody had to stock the 5.5mm sockets, so why not make some bolts to fit.
*** Searching for a driver I've found the 5.5mm is very common in RC cars and other hobby stuff to fit a 5.5mm hex. Its also in the Wiha flex driver set I've been waiting on a reason to buy, but now need the socket asap not an amazon week.

5.5mm is the DIN standard size for M3x0.5. More like thanks for actually following a standard instead of doing whatever the **** you feel like.
