I could see where they would be nice, but I see a few issues.

#1. It would be difficult to get something to clear, especially on stairs.

#2. It only works if there's a place for the strap to catch.

#3. If one person drops it on stairs or something, and your strap catches, you can kiss your arm good-bye.

I've used them to move a fridge over a freshly recovered kitchen floor to keep from tearing up the oh so beautiful and expensive vinyl tile. They worked great. My wife was actually able to help me without too many complaints (very odd). We have a fairly decent sized stainless steel side by side fridge that was fully loaded with groceries, so it definitely wasn't light. I consider them worth the 30 bucks I spent for them. They have them at HF for less (got mine at U-haul), but I can't find them on their site right now.

I had the daughters new stacked washer and dryer delivered and the guys used a sling system between them to get the things upstairs. Fast and efficient, but still a back breaker...H

the guys the delivered/install the new washer and dryer had some that actually looped over the shoulder so they just walked with the units and use their hands to steady them.
bend the knees a little and the unit was on the ground

I bought some a while back and they work particularly well for large things that are difficult to handle. They were definitely worth the $30. Since I bought mine, I've noticed every time I've seen appliance deliveries lately, the delivery guys are using them or something similar. Your mileage may vary.
