Okay so I have a dilemma that some of yall might share. I have loads of foreign tools, ranging from pliers to sockets, wrenches, ratchets, chisels, and so on from tool boxes that I have bought full of tools. Im sure plenty are gonna say trash em, but there are too many to just trash and most are in good condition, I just cannot think of a venue in which I can sell them.
I was thinking per pound on ebAY or even here if there was any interest whatsoever, like here is Xlbs of metric sockets or X amount of pliers etc. I know they are not worth jack, but it has come to the point where at .50 for 5 pieces will add up to some serious $.

Im sure plenty of you have this issue of large lots of 'junk' tools, so any insight would be helpful

Thanks in advance, maybe I can get some pictures up soon, who doesnt like a lil Foreign Tool ****!

just sell them in a big lot or two on ebay. Thats what I have done with that kind of stuff. Add a few craftsman items to help it sell.

OK......all brands of tools can be dangerous. On a serious note. Best bet would be the Ebay route and the flat rate boxes. 11 bucks shipping you get ** amont of tools. They will bring something. A guy who sells at flea markets would love the stuff I'm sure.

Once the stuff leaves your hands......:monkey_po

Maybe you could melt them down and build a Russian tank.

Seriously though, I have no idea. Maybe sell lots that will fit in a flat rate box until you have none left?

Are you familier with flat rate boxes? Try to figure how many you can fill.

Search Ebay for lot of pliers or pounds of sockets to get a feel for what is currently listed and what prices run. I wouldn't expect much and I'm not a fan of people that bait their lot auctions with a Snap on pocket screwdriver or a few Craftsman sockets but, that's just me. You can stuff a lot of 1/4 or 3/8 drive sockets into a small $5 flat rate box.

Well...as a buyer I would probably just ask if the guy would sell the good tools separately, and as a seller it seems to help move the stuff down the road. I can see how it could be mildly annoying though I guess.

Seems to go for between 50 cents and $1 per item for things like pliers and $25-50 cents for screwdrivers. Be honest, if you state there are a few craftsman items will get alot more hits as it is a popular search term so thats the reason to add them but mention the bulk are "xyz". Have mostly done them in lots that will about fill a flat rate postal box. Don't worry about anoying someone, if they are annoied they were not going to be your bidders anyway.

you could put them up here as a blind grab bag. Put mixed tools in different sized flat rate boxes.

If you can get more specific on what you have maybe some people here would want some. People can use cheap tools to alter for a special application. Never know.

I dont know how many brands you have heard mentioned on this website, but if there is anything youve heard of before. I would put those brands up in the classifieds on here first.
Just for curiosity, what type of ratchets do you have?
Also, do you have any flare nut wrenches?

While I can appreciate U.S. made tools, I don't discount that "made in china" or "made in "insert third world country here" socket or wrench or pliers, I've been using a set of india combination wrenches for nearly twenty years and have only had but one failure when I was using the box end of one wrench on the open end of another to lengthen it(makeshift extension) so clearly it was being abused. Only recently have I been thinking about replacing them just because I can get a 18 pc set of full polish kd allen combination wrenches for $55.00.

Like everyone else, I think you should list what you have, by brand and sizes, take a few pics and post them up.

Makes eBay easier too...

piece together as complete of sets as possible for sockets and wrenches, and sell them that way. You won't get much, but it's worth something. I keep them around for that time you need to hack up a tool to make it work.

I would donate them to some charitable organization like St. DePaul or Goodwill.

I will third the donation route. If you really want to sell them have a garage sale. You'll get more money and you won't have to ship them. Stuffing a flat rate box full is asking for it to break open.

Sell them at a yard sale. I dont see it being worth the time to sort and group them. I sell at flea markets and yard sales about once a month, I just dump the **** into $1 and less tubs. People think they are getting a bargain when they dig through them, especially after seeing the prices on my good stuff. The cheap stuff will sell far quicker than good tools. Guy will pick up a decent brand wrench, then drop it like it scalded him when I tell him $3. For $1 and under they will buy it by the bucket. The heavier your load coming out of the flea market the better the deals, regardless if you ever use the stuff.

It would be a royal PITA to ebay them. I vote garage sale also. Around here, any garage sale with the word tools in the ad gets swarmed with tool buyers. Whatever is left, take to a pawn shop and see what they offer.

If you just want to liquidate them, consign them to a local auction. They will bring fair market value, and they will be gone the next day. No fuss, no muss.

I have a bunch of mixed tools like you mentioned. I made up several sets, and put a toolbox in each car. They have bailed me out several times.

Donate them to your local VOTEC school, or high school shop program.

+1. I've donated to the local boy's home before. They'll love 'em and you get a good feeling inside.

I say donate them also, local high school auto shop, boys home, etc.

I'm workin on pictures, some people have expressed interest in them here. So hopefully I can get rid of them here so I don't have to lug em around.

There are kids in poor neighborhoods that work on bikes and go-carts that would love to have them.
Contact a church in a poor area, I mean poor, like you are scared to go there poor. Offer them to the church's pastor/minister, whatever to give to kids or use for a bicycle repair program. They will know of a group in the area that is doing that, or may just take them to give out directly to kids.
Kids in areas like this have nothing. They may not have reliable food or heat in their house so they don't give a **** where the tools were made. Give them some tools and a chance to earn some money fixing things.
If not a church, talk to your local big brothers and sisters, they may know of some kids that are into wrenching. they interview kids for their "Bigs" and will know this stuff. Again they may know some place to get them if they wont take them.
Places like that can also give you tax deduction slips.
