Hey guys, in the wake of Helene, I purchased a Milwaukee M18 Chainsaw to buck some of the fallen trees behind my house. I'm thinking about getting a Forge battery and wanted to get your input: has anyone used a Forge battery in the chainsaw and noticed any increased power? I get that runtime is dependent on Ah but wanted to see if it was worth it to grab a Forge.

YES, I don't do chainsaws but I do circular saws and miter saws and the difference is noticeable. Anybody that buys high powered Milwaukee batteries that aren't FORGE is wasting their money and the non-forge die about one hour after the 3 year warrantee is up. The 8.0 and 12.0 non-FORGE completely ****. This could explain why Home Depot is giving them away with tools.

Just an update for anyone in the same boat as me: I previously used 6ah HO and 8Ah HO M18 batteries in the M18 chainsaw and they did great. The M18 12Ah Forge blows them out of the water. The power difference is insane. We'll worth every penny I'd you are running the M18 16" chainsaw.

FWIW - based on the various tests I've seen, the 8.0Ah FORGE is about 80%+ of the bump of the 12Ah Forge, and only weighs a few grams more than the XC 6.0 HO battery. The 12Ah FORGE is a beast. I don't run anything that needs the runtime, and I don't really want to deal with the weight of the 12.0Ah, so I've wound up with 3 8.0Ah with the recent HD sales.

I got an 8Ah FORGE too. I'm going to try that next!
