You every bought something and thought, why did I do that or what was I thinking? I feel like I did wrong, look, I bought a harbor freight box and filled it, now feel guilty, am I wrong. Just feels wrong and dirty! But for under 500 for both new? Less wrong?:shocking:

You're ok, we still like you. You had a need, the box addressed the need. No sin there. It's like beer goggles, but with tools.

sure do look nice. and you did what you felt best no need to feel bad about it.

though i know what you mean about the dirty feeling in buying something that you may not totally believe was a good choice.

You'll like it. I've been using mine for about 3 years and I'm really happy with it.

I generally avoid Chinese products, but the HF box is a bargain and hands-down beats anything else in the price range.

It is not a sin unless you are an anti import tool advocate.

^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS!
SINNER! I believe in all american, well if its good. No hail craftsman, they went to chinese! They sin also, I dont visit sears anymore! Visit CL or ebay for older craftsman when english speaking people made their tools.

If you really believe that you should only buy USA tools, it is kinda sad to put USA tools into a chinese box.

But I am a believer in getting good tools regardless of where it is made.

If you want absolution to feel better, then that Chinese tool box was likely made from scrap iron that came from US automobiles.

See? US steel is still in there. Somewhere. Maybe. :)

Hey, those look pretty snazzy with the gloss finish like that. Mine are crinkle finish. I also have Gerstner and Kennedy too so I'm a mix and match like you. Used to have old school craftsman but it got too raggedy to keep. I want more American boxes but I don't regret buying the HF. I don't know how you got the 44" top AND bottom for under $500 brand new but I don't blame you. Just don't buy anything else there, OK?

Ok, heres where someone lost their job! The box came missing a handle(top), the guy said I can do a better price, sidewalk sale last weekend. It was all assembled and he was under the assumtion that it was damaged also, soooo he sold me the bottom full price with top free, I think it cost me 476 after tax. Good price no doubt but he didnt charge for top! Both were out there but guess he thought they were both damaged? Anyway I fill it and put it in its place today and look around at my other boxes and just about cried! Chinese with 5 americans, damn I messed up, they look stupid in the same garage.

It was made from a scrap metal that came to the US from China as a lathe, used in the US for 6 months..broke..then scraped again sent back to China, then shipped back to the US as a new car, wrecked by some out of the country driver with out insurance after about 1 month, scraped in the US yet again..and sent back to China and back to the US as.....well..your new tool box...well you get the picture.

I check each one with a rare earth magnet just to make sure the ore that built my tools came from this side of the planet..lol

According to Snap on there steel comes from US plants ( just not there fing jack stand bases )...I called and checked...but you might be right and they might be trying to blow smoke up my *** but...I like to sleep good at night so I just stick with that...it is funny how many companies are looking to the US Steel plants now a days for there steel..kinda makes you all warm and fuzzy inside..lol.

You can offset your guilt and put yourself back in balance by making a large charitable contribution to Snap-on. :D

Great deal.

Personally, the extra money I paid for mine that is made by American hands is worth literally every penny to me.

I just never valued savings over principles. It doesn't matter if they were selling them for $10 per box, I wouldn't buy them.

Hopefully you love it, though.

No, Snap on gets its share of money. Buy new SK to increase their sales and to support american made tools.

It's only a box. Granted a Mexican made Craftsman or Waterloo made box would have been better but, enjoy your new box.
