This looks like a very interesting product, I'd never seen anything like this before. As one person mentioned this could be great for the oil filter on my Honda as I always have to clean up a mess after removing it.

I wish the 50% off was for the smaller size (which I just saw and now think may be a better fit for the cramped quarters of my engine bay).

Thanks OP, I'm in for 1. Hopefully it makes snow blower oil changes less of a PIA.

What/How are you all using the oil pads?

What's the advantage over paper towels or cotton towels?

Gary

They can absorb more, and can hold more. It would be like sticking the entire roll of paper towel in a puddle, instead of a sheet or two of paper towel.
I suppose the same comparison could be made between newspaper and paper towel, the difference is similar between these pads and the paper towel.

Looks like the MYCARTY code is expired, the cart accepts the code and tells you it's valid, but when you click checkout nothing happens. It's just redirects you to newpig.com/updatecart over and over.

Looks like the free shipping code is dead. That's a deal killer for this thread. I'm glad I at least got an order in last night for a Form a Funnel while the code was still working. After thinking about it, I went back today to get some oil pads. But without the code, the shipping costs more than the pads. Oh well, I guess I'll keep using paper towels, cardboard and kitty litter for oil spill clean up.

Looks like they pulled the plug on the code this morning.

Sorry, Squeal Deal Code MYCARTY is either invalid or expired.

Shipping is expensive for smaller companies. The shipping costs cover personnel expenses to package the item, boxes, and the postage -- not just the postage fees.

"Free shipping" discount codes should be used with care, as they can easily take advantage of the generosity of a company and greatly affect their bottom line. Looks like that may have been what was happening and they pulled the discount code for all customers.

Instead of placing three small orders (one for me, two as gifts), I placed one large order to maximize the efficiency of the order. It may be advantageous to present the gifts in person instead of having the company ship them to different addresses.

Large companies can more easily absorb the costs over a large number of orders, similar to electronics retailers selling televisions at cost and making up for it on the accessories, but selling an item for near cost ($10) and covering the cost of postage ($8) on top of that, they are losing money... and quickly.

Just something to consider next time when placing orders for single items with free shipping discount codes.

Peter and Eye, thanks for the info.

I'm in the same boat as Ed. I ordered the funnels but didn't really understand the benefit of the pads at the time.

I'll keep an eye out for the pads...

yesterday I had a email from them offering a small flashlight and 10% off my next order. The code is GOODDEAL Both codes worked yesterday. The free shipping was the better deal for me in Hawaii, but the 10% might be good for someone needing a bunch of stuff if the shipping don't kill you.

Who knows?
Received mine as well today. Looks to be a first rate product. Thanks again to the OP and the Member who posted the free shipping code.

With any luck I'll be able to try it out on my Civic this Sunday.

Thumbs up. My order came yesterday. 2 funnels and 2 packs of the mats. Good stuff. The wife will appreciate less oil on the floor after I change the oil in the cars and the snowblower.

Did they give you the discount? They told me it was expired and I couldn't use it.

Sorry for the late response. Yes they gave me the discount. I ordered 3 funnels, 2 sets of mats and a catalog. I am more excited about the mats to be honest.

Let me know how it works out. I bought this specifically for my Integra oil changes. And actually I saw that they sell a smaller version of the funnel which seemed like it may fit better in the cramped area between the oil filter and firewall so I bought one of each size.

Just saw this. I don't think the MYCARTY code works anymore or I didn't get that far. Registering for an account just to get a piece of lead is not worth my time. Besides, Amazon has them for 14 bucks prime.

Just got mine in the mail today. I think it will work great, they are a little bad about sending emails out, time to unsubscribe and go change the oil on my truck, no more filter draining onto the steering rack! Also, it rolls up to a nice and small tube, will hang on a long nail beside my other funnels quite nicely.

Amazon Deal Alert from New Pig - If you want the new version (Aluminum), not the old version (Lead). Not sure why anyone would want the light aluminum version instead of the heavier lead version, but if so, here is a deal. Maybe someone funneling food products?

Seller is New Pig. Price is $4.99, shipping is $5.50. Total is $10.49 shipped.

But, this is the Aluminum Model number TLS703, not the Lead Model number TLS750

This is a great deal too. I have the lead version and this aluminum version. I feel much safer bending the lead one a lot, than the aluminum.
