The attached image roughly represents a 60'x60' building, 30' lean-to on left side, and concrete pad out front. 1 walkthrough door on front and one on left side. Also 14' (maybe 12') roll-up doors front and left center. Front left enclosure is office with a bathroom just behind it. Air compressor is right rear and electrical panel is right near front. Now, ORGANIZE!! lol.
I have been moving things from A to B to F to A to C, etc. My dad does not have all similar items together. I am attempting to do some organizing. The rear half of left wall and left half of rear wall are (starting on left wall near center and working towards rear as best I can recall) welder, grinder, chopsaw, drillpress, misc., tool chest. Turning and now on rear wall working from left toward center is 3 tool chests, storage cabinet about 3' wide, etc. Basically the left rear corner is the mechanical selection. Then the workbench (black) with front toward that area, number 1. Number 2 is where a service truck is parked. Misc. things line the wall in front of it.
There are now 3 freestanding shelves coming off the back wall and 1 from the right wall around the air-compressor. Number 3 are counter-high cabinets. I believe it's 2 wide back to back with a 5th cabinet backed to them facing toward center of shop.
Right wall center are tables/bench. Number 4 is where I have ladders. #5 is a small welder, rod storage, and grinder.
Number 6 (not really outside shop) are 2 tables on casters to be placed somewhere. Number 7 is junk (not junk, but things just stacked and thrown together).
Area 1 has always been about the same so it would seem out of place if those things were moved. However, I would like to make sure the workbench leaves enough room so I can put whatever I'm working on there so tools are nearby. Too tight to come in left roll-up door and turn, so that leaves coming in the front and offsetting over to that area.
The brown centered on the right wall is tentatively going to be the woodworking area. Before I go farther I should say that no, I am not a mechanic nor a woodworker, nor welder, nor......you get the idea.
Somewhere in the picture I have to place a miter saw, band saw, another saw (maybe a scroll???. Short blade on end of arm.) The 4 freestanding shelves are full of junk, or things that dad is keeping but really of no use.
My Bronco is just inside the side door, so for now I pull in the front door if I have something to tinker with. That does however leave the service truck blocked. Some day I would love to have a 2-post hoist.
I guess it's hard to figure organizing without really seeing it, but I need major organizing. Heck, I'm having a hard time just gathering all similar items right now. But when I do, it's going to be too much to just lay around. It will need to be organized to optimize space. I'm chipping away at it slowly. Maybe I will soon have an epiphany and be able to show off my accomplishment. Until then
and probably need some after work
.
I am going to try to load pictures now, but if you don't see any you can just know I have a lot to do and wasn't able to load them.
